What is the Bottom's Up Leash?
The Bottom's Up Leash helps you help your dysplastic, arthritic, post-surgical, or otherwise disabled dog move more comfortably and safely. The leash works by supporting a portion of the dogs hind legs while they walk, or attempt to go up/down stairs. Unlike a towel under the belly, our product allows your dog to eliminate and keeps you from having to stoop over. For quick cleanup, remove only the padded neoprene sleeves and wash with soap and water.

The Bottom's Up Leash is a quality, 100% nylon, supportive rear end dog harness (dog leash) designed to assist animals with broken bones, arthritis, hip dysplasia, or any other skeletal or muscular problems. It allows the animal to perform bodily functions (urinate and defecate) unencumbered, while being supported by a person who lifts a portion of the animal's weight at a 90-degree angle from the top of the back, in front of the tail area. It works by taking the animal's weight off its hind legs while you walk your dog from the rear. The leash price is USD $34.95, (plus shipping and sales tax where applicable).

Because the straps have a clearance in design off of the animal's back, the pressure is distributed under the center of its hind legs. This gives the most complete support of the rear hips and upper rear legs. By lifting slightly on the leash, the pet owner can control the amount of weight that is being placed on the animal's hind legs. The animal will still be going through the walking motion and will still be applying pressure on its legs, so the leash acts as an effective therapeutic device.

This leash is adjustable in size (one-size-fits-all) and has been used for dogs as heavy as 125 pounds and as small as Dachshund's and Lhasa Apso's. The Sheepy Sleeves are soft, padded sleeves which fit over the leg loops on the leash to add to the overall comfort. The sleeves are washable and are made of 100% Neoprene. This leash will not chafe your dog!

    FAQ'S

How does the Bottom's Up Leash work?
The Bottom's Up Leash works by taking a portion of the weight off your pet's hind legs. Your cat/dog will still go through the walking motion, but you will be supporting a portion of their weight. The dog leash (dog harness) works a lot like a rock climbers harness. Click here to view a home video of the Bottom's Up Leash.

  • What inspired this product?
The inspiration for this dog harness, was a Sheep Dog named "Watson" who began suffering from arthritis and hip dysplasia when he was 15 years old.

    Are there different sizes?
The leash/harness is adjustable in size and will fit any dog between 12 and 125 pounds. One size fits all.

What is the price of the dog leash (dog harness)?
The price of our dog leash is USD $34.95, plus shipping and sales tax (if applicable). We offer substantial quantity discounts to retailers, distributors, vet clinics, groomers, dog walkers, etc. Please call (800)805-2001 for additional information, or contact us online.

Can I return the Bottom's Up Leash?
Yes. If you purchased a Bottom's Up Leash and are not completely satisfied with your purchase, please return your dogleash and a copy of your receipt and we will fully refund your money. All returns must be made within 14-days of purchase. Click for our return policy. If you made an online purchase and did not specify your email address within our orderform, you probably didn't receive an email receipt. If this is your situation, please return the dog leash (dog harness) along with a slip that specifies your name, date of purchase, phone number, and street address so we can process your return. All returns will be processed within two weeks from the time we receive your return.

Does this dog leash / dog harness come in different sizes ?
Our dogleash fits dogs of all sizes. We have never had a problem with our leash not fitting a certain sized dog. If your dog weighs less than 25 pounds we recommend that you use the two slide clips that we will ship with your leash order. These slide clips are used to adjust the size of the leg loops to the desired size. We have many customers that have Lhasa Apsos and Daschunds and the leashes work great. Please click here for our product photo gallery which will illustrate how our leash might fit/look on your dog.

Watson With A Front Leash Do I need to use a "Front Leash" in addition to the Bottom's Up Leash ?
You do not have to, but some dogs are more comfortable with having both leashes. It will not affect results if you decide to use a front leash with your Bottom's Up Leash. The front leash acts as a guide.

Will I need to be able to lift my dog's weight in order to be able to use the Bottom's Up Leash ?
No. In actuality, you are only lifting a portion of the weight of the dog's rear hind-quarters. Click here to see a home video regarding our product.

Will the Bottom's Up Leash work if my dogs front legs are not stable?
No. Your dogs front legs will need to be stable in order to use our leash (dog harness).

My dog just had back surgery, will the Bottom's Up Leash help during the recovery period?
Many of our customers have successfully used our leash to support a portion of their dogs weight following back surgery.

Does the Bottom's Up Leash come in different colors?
No. Our Sheep Dog "Watson" looked great in red, so this is the only color we are producing at this time. We do not have any future plans to offer our dog leash / dog harness in any other colors.

Is it difficult to get my dog into the Bottom's Up Leash?
Absolutely not. Once the dog realizes this leash helps them walk, he/she will be eager to help you place it on them. It is easy as placing a head-end leash on an animal.

Will the Bottom's Up Leash chafe my dog's skin?
No. The Sheepy Sleeves (padded sleeves) which fit over the leg loops are made of Neoprene and are very soft. Our dog harness will not chafe your pet.

Ever since my poor German Shepherd, Bodie, has been getting older, his health has deteriorated drastically . . . I LOVE the bottoms-up leash--and Bodie does too! Now we can take our walks just like the old days, with no struggles and no mess!

These things are the best for anyone with older pets. They really make life easier for both of us!

Using this leash has made such an amazing difference for me and my dog. I'm so glad I found these!

"From the minute I received my leash, my 12 year old Wheaton Terrier Max, has been running. My dog has Degenerative Mylopathy. His back legs have slowly become paralyzed. I am 5'1", my dog weighs 47lbs, and I could not get him around. I tried every product on the market, I spent triple the money on products. My male dog hated All of them, and urinated on them each time. This leash has saved my arms and back and given Max, a "New leash on Life!" He is only limited by how fast I can go! It gives him freedom to be a dog! I am not constantly, washing the leash and he gets in and out of it in seconds. I truly, do not know what I would do , without it. I am so thankful I found this leash, and I am always reccommending it, to people who see us walking. All my vets have been amazed by this leash. I cannot say enough about it. Thank you!" [More]

My 10-year old Cardigan Welsh Corgi, Koa, suffered a herniated disc in January 2007. Even after surgery he hasn't fully regained the use of his back right leg. My back was killing me trying to bend down low enough to help him outside. I tried using a towel and other things but, being a male dog, he couldn't/wouldn't urinate using one of these items. This sling has been an amazing thing for both of us! Koa still doesn't have full use of his back right leg but with the aid of the sling he is able to get around and is rebuilding his muscles every day. I can't imagine how either of us would have survived without it!

Thank you for the promptness of this order and also for mine last month. My first order was put in on a Thurs eve and I had it by Sat afternoon. This order was put in late Mon nite and I had it Thur morn. I brought it right over to this girl at the coffee shop that we've become good friends with over the years. She was so happy to have it. She said she has to lift up her dog's butt with her hands to get him up her stairs. She doesn't have any where near as many stairs as I have but it still is wear and tear on her back. I told her how great my Nitro was doing up and down 2 flights of stairs and wanting to keep walking. I told her what a great product you have and she was interested. She used it Thur afternoon and evening, by Friday she said he was doing pretty good she said he even looked like he was proud and confident. I can't wait to talk to her Monday to see how it went over the weekend.
I want to Thank you so much. I love my Nitro so much he is my "adopted son" I've had him since he was a 3 month (blk lab/shep/ border coll) pup. He's almost 16 yrs now and thanks to you and Watson I can get him up and down the stairs longer. I kept praying for the lottery so I could buy a home for us so he wouldn't have to climb stairs, and I truly believe Nitro understands me and is waiting for that house. I felt that was my only option, and realistically that'll never happen but one can dream right? And when Nitro started getting worse and the arthritis was preventing him from getting up and down my stairs and watching him fall down a couple of stairs and even slip on the kitchen floor, and sometimes see him goto the bathroom on the floor, because he was afraid to go downstairs, to see him know he couldn't do what he used to and know how humiliated he must feel( I know it sounds nuts but I can see it in my boys eyes, I know what he's thinking and feeling) I was really getting myself sick, every time I took him outside I cried. He would bark to go out but he hesitated when he saw the stairs. Now he barks and he's very energetic (even just for a little while) he lets me put on the bottoms up leash and his lead leash and when I open the door he wants to run down right away. I am amazed. I have to try to keep up with him. You know what made me almost cry was the 2nd day that Nitro used the leash, he wanted to chase a squirrel? I told him you want to go get em? Let's go. And together we ran after a squirrel until (thank God) it ran up a tree. But to see Nitro's face light up and look with satisfaction that he scared a squirrel up a tree, it gave him his dignity back. I don't know what brought me to the computer or how I found your website, but I know it was nothing short of a miracle. I believe that your pal Watson is a little angel working miracles for people and dogs that have a very special bond. So again thank you Arnie and thank you Watson.

    Sincerely,
    Sandy and Nitro

P.S. I will send you a picture as soon as I can get someone to take one of us using your leash, thanks again.
