Three Legged Dogs

There is a segment of the dog population and not many people are really aware of. It is dogs with only three legs. They are sometimes called tripods or tripaws.

Jim and Renée have opened up a web site with their wonderful dog Jerry to inform people on how to handle tripods, some of the problems and pratfalls, and how to make their life in your life so much better. Their web site is Three Legged dogs. It is fabulous and very heartwarming.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jim, Renée, and Jerry. They have taken some of my products and reviewed them. Here's the link to their review.

Be sure to visit their site. It will leave you with a great feeling.

MORE IN THE WAY OF PET TRAVEL

Unrestrained dogs and cats put drivers in danger

Traveling with a cat or dog loose in the car can result in accidents, runaway animals, and even death to pet and driver.
But Christina Selter, founder of San Diego-based pet safety group BarkBuckleUp, says these disasters can be avoided by using special devices that keep pets safely restrained.
The organization drew attention to the issue at a recent Volvo-sponsored exhibit at the Chicago Auto Show. Volvo, known for its safety efforts, offers factory-installed kennels for pets in its XC90 or V70 wagons, for instance. Other car companies are considering offering equipment aimed at pet safety, too.A look at national statistics shows the potential impact and importance of restraining pets in vehicles. More than 67 percent of U.S. households own a pet, with 44.8 million owning a dog and 71 million owning a cat, according to the American Pet Product Manufacturers Association. About half of all those households have mo... more

TESTMONIAL-THE STORY OF GEORGE

George was adopted one year ago. He was 9 years old, blind, deaf
and had a previous spinal injury that limited his ability to use
his hind legs. George has been to the opthamologist and now sees
quite well. Our wonderful vet has cleared his ears and he now can
hear his Mommy tell him how much he is loved. We worked on walking
him as much as he could and he regained some of the strength in
his hind legs. He began attending the Pug Meetups in Houston and
he loves them. Recently, George began having mild seizures and is
again unable to walk with much control. He has been unable to join
his 3 brothers on their walks with Dad and this makes him sad. I
ran across the Bottom's Up site one day and I decided to give this
new lea... more

THE ORIGINAL BOTTOM'S UP LEASH

This is Watson's Original Bottom's Up Leash. You can also see his collar and name tag.

How this brings back memories. When I look at this first one, thinking about the 5 leashes that I purchased, cut up, and sewed together. If you look closely you can see the gray thread. This was sewn together so many times. Then I look at the mass-produced ones. A smile comes to my face.More importantly, I think of Watson. I think what he has done. I think how he has helped out so many dogs.I know that many people are grateful to him, me... I just loved him.

Scout's Story--Scout's Legacy

HOW SCOUT’S HOUSE CAME TO BE

dog in therapy

She was barely seven weeks old when she was dumped in my neighbor’s unlocked car in a Petco parking lot. Just looking at her, you could tell there was something wrong: she had a far-away look in her eyes and she didn’t walk so much as wobble. Every few feet she’d trip and fall down, but she always picked herself up and tried to walk again. She was determined that way.
After many months and as many tests, I finally found out what had happened to Scout. Somewhere in her early life she had suffered from distemper, and although she survived it—a miracle in its own right—the neurological damage it left was extensive. She was partially deaf and partially blind and her back legs were severely weakened. But what she lacked in physical strength and coordination she made up for in determination. Trip, fall down, get up and try again—that was Scout’s motto.
Inspired by her... more
